How To Re-energise Your Hybrid Working Routine

How To Re-energise Your Hybrid Working Routine

Remote working or working from home has transformed from a luxury afforded the few to a necessity required by many. Some of us have never set foot in an office, whilst others only visit the office monthly or even less frequently. Some of us run businesses entirely remotely, and the number of virtual freelancers has multiplied exponentially.

However, working from home can be incredibly isolating, and it can certainly be easy to get bored or stuck in a rut.

Check out our tips on keeping your routine less mundane.

1. Update your playlist.

Working from home means you avoid the distraction of office chit-chat, and it also means you can listen to what you want all day. Whether that’s classical background music or pumping out those guilty pleasures at top volume, the DJ is you. You might choose to listen to podcasts or talking books; make sure you update your background noise to precisely what you want to hear to motivate your working days.

2. Change your location.

Perhaps one of the most valued aspects of working remotely is the ability to work from anywhere! You might have a delightful set-up in the spare bedroom or even a garden office you designed to fit your every working need. Some aspects of your working life may have to be done from this fixed base, especially if you create a physical product. However, if your job is more computer-based, or if perhaps you’re having an admin day, consider an occasional change of location. Maybe head to a coffee shop or library to work. If it’s warm outside, why not consider a park or sitting at the beach and working. You can top up your tan at the same time as ticking off your to-do list.

3. Deskercise

Working from home or even a garden office has the advantage of cancelling out the commute, but this can also mean you move less than you would if you travelled to an office site. It’s essential to make sure you get up and move around regularly, especially if your coffee machine sits desk-side. Remember to take a lunch break, even on hectic days; get up and go for a walk around the garden or even the block. Fifteen minutes is better than nothing. You could even purchase an under-desk exercise bike to keep moving even while you’re working!

4. Alter your home office décor

This may seem simple, but just changing the photographs you’re looking at can make you fall in love with your home office again. If your chair is uncomfortable, change it. If your desk doesn’t fit your needs, get a new one! This doesn’t need to be an expensive endeavour. You could keep it eco-friendly and upcycle or purchase it from a second-hand shop. New-to-you is still new, and updating your working space could be just what you need to feel re-energised in your hybrid working life.

We hope that these tips have given you a starting place to make the most of all the benefits of working remotely. If you are looking for a dedicated workspace such as a garden office, why not contact us to help create the bespoke home office of your dreams.
